Approximately one in six women who left prison last year were homeless on release. In response to a written question, the justice minister Edward Argar revealed that last year 240 women released last year went straight to streets.

Of the 6,033 women who left jail last year, 831 were described as ‘other homeless’ and 778 ‘other unsettled accommodation’. The question was asked by shadow justice minister Richard Burgon.
